Christmas gifts for AgeUK, Rough Sleepers and Hope Centre 2018
In our first donating project working with organisations like AgeUK and the Hope Centre, committee members tirelessly spread the word in asking for donations to help put together Christmas gifts for elderly service users of AgeUK, homeless and vulnerable service users of the Hope Centre and homeless people on the streets of Northampton.
We were asking for donations of items like: toiletries, deodorants, body sprays, baby wipes, chocolates, hats, gloves, scarves and socks. The original target set was 50 gift parcels but this quickly grew as the donations came flooding in and we were able to make more and more parcels/presents.
We also received money donations that enabled us to bulk buy items like thermal hats, gloves and socks.
We were blown away by the generosity shown by so many, it helped us to be able to wrap and share out 230 Christmas gift parcels! Totally exceeding our expectations and target figure. A huge thank you to all the players, parents, friends, family members and local businesses and schools, you all played a part in making difference to someones Christmas this year.
We distributed the parcels to AgeUK Northamptonshire, the Hope Centre and direct to rough sleepers on the street of Northampton.
Above you can see members of the club handing over gift parcels to the team at AgeUK Northamptonshire and also handing out gift parcels to the rough sleepers in Northampton. We regularly have committee members volunteering at the Langar Seva which is run by members of the Sikh Community from the Siri Guru Singh Gurdwara. The Langar Seva is held every week on Sundays on Abington Street, its aim is to provide food and drink to anyone and everyone. It serves on average 100+ rough sleepers and vulnerable people each week.
